Accomplishments

A few of Arzner's most noteworthy films are Christopher Strong (1933), Craig's Wife (1936), and Dance, Girl, Dance (1940). The three films remain the most studied of Arzner's work because of how they complicate heterosexual and homosocial (if not homosexual) relationships. Notably, these three films were also the early work of actresses Katharine Hepburn, Rosalind Russell, and Lucille Ball.
